CHESSS SPRING MEMBERSHIP MEETING- ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL CHESSS MEMBERS

In accordance with proper governance practices, the CHESSS Board of Directors periodically reviews CHESSS’s governing documents: the Constitution and Racing Rules.

With that in mind, the Board undertook a thorough review of both documents and is proposing changes in each. In the case of the Constitution, the recommended changes are intended to provide clearer definitions of Board member terms, allow the Board the flexibility hold more than two General Membership meetings per year, to fill vacancies on the Board, and address technological changes that permit video conferencing rather than in face meetings. (Please see the revised version of the Constitution on the CHESSS webpage).

This is being sent to all members and many friends of CHESSS because in order to amend the Constitution, proposed amendments must Circulated a minimum of 15 days before a general membership meeting at which the members will be asked to approve that revision. Adoption of the amendment requires a three-fourths majority approval of the voting members present or who have voted by proxy.

If you cannot attend that meeting, we request that you submit a proxy vote via email to JHHalpern@Hotmail.com and revolution4515@gmail.com no later than 17:00 on Friday March 29, 2024.

The changes to the racing rules do not require a vote of the members, but at the March 30 meeting, there will be discussion of the attached Board approved 2024 version of the CHESSS Racing Rules.
