Shorthanded Cruising

Cruise/Rendezvous - Gray's Inn Creek
Author Last Post

The weather for the weekend is not looking great at this point. Saturday's forecast is for light air and Sunday's is for decent wind from the South but with rain on and off.

Since we haven't had any registrations I'm going to pull the plug on this event. We'll see if we can rally up more boats for the next cruise.

CHESSS members are always welcome to post a note on the "Spontaneous Sailing" Forum if you see a good weather window and would like to meet up with another boat. The forum is here:

Don’t forget the CHESSS cruise/rendezvous to Gray’s Inn Creek. We’ve had plenty of rain these past two weeks so the odds of good weather are in our favor. Nothing like a quiet evening at anchor in a remote area of the Eastern Shore after all the hubbub of the July 4th holiday.

If you’re thinking of coming, please register on the Event Calendar page of the CHESSS website:

As the weather forecast becomes more certain we can refine the plan.

Gray's Inn Creek is at about the same latitude as Rock Hall but you have to sail up the Chester River to get there. It's a beautiful, quiet creek which makes for a good raft up. There's no town so bring provisions.

A map with a chart inset is being posted on the CHESSS website in the Documents section under "Challenges-Social". You can contact me anytime if there are questions or suggestions, I'm learning how to do this.

For the Cruise to St. Michael's we started a group phone text thread which made it easy to keep track of everyone and added a fun social element.

It's best if you try to arrive no later than 5pm. That gives time to socialize before dinner. Singlehanders/shorthanders are often tired after a long sail and some conk out early!
