Shorthanded Cruising

Langford Creek on 7/23/22
Author Last Post

The weather forecast for Saturday is still 2-4 knots and 90 degF. So far just Lauren and I (John Z) are registered so unless anyone has strong objections (extremely doubtful) we will cancel the trip to Langford Creek.

I'll check with the Board about postponing to another date and if we set one, it should show up on the Event Calendar. You're always welcome and encouraged to post your input in this forum.

Thanks!

Hey Lauren, thanks for that input. Yes, it's looking light on Saturday but I'll still do it if anyone else wants to.

I don't know if we've ever postponed to a backup date but shoot, why not?

If anyone else out there is thinking of doing this trip, please let us know your thoughts, thanks!

Currently the forecast is looking pretty unsuitable for a trip up to Langford creek for me. Saturday calls for light and variable winds with highs in the upper 90s/100. Suhttps://chesss.clubexpress.com/popup.aspx?page_id=2156&club_id=27349&item_id=3163640&action=reply&forum_id=25438#nday winds look better but still very hot and likely to spawn some big thunderstorms.

I've become a bit of a light air/hot temps whether weeny, especially having motored from Selby Bay to Gibson Island and back last weekend. Can we discuss a backup date?

Regards,

Lauren

I just registered for the Langford Creek sail but I'm not sure I'll be able to make the trip. I fell and sprained my ankle over the weekend. If it's in good shape by then, I'll join.

Regards,
Lauren

Since the St. Michael's Cruise was posted on the "Shorthanded Cruising" Forum I'm starting a Thread for the Langford Creek Cruise here. Garner has been busy so I offered to serve as point man for this one.

Please consider joining new and old CHESSS friends for the Langford Creek Cruise July 23-24. The plan is to leave the Annapolis area Saturday morning and meet up behind Cacaway Island for the night, then sail home on Sunday. No stress, feel free to bail out if it's too windy or totally windless but it's helpful if you Register in advance. If you want to sail in company, the nominal start is from buoy "R2" NE of Tolley Point at 10am.

My cell phone number is 410-562-7848 and you can call or text anytime if you have any questions, want to retire, etc.

I sailed this cruise last year (or was it the year before) and had a great time. Got to drift into the bay behind Cacaway singlehanded with the spinnaker up, douse it and sail up to anchor with a spiderweb of lines draping the cockpit. A first for me and a great memory.

Once everyone arrived we piled into the cockpit of one of the larger boats for a beer and some great conversation, then went our own way for dinner on our own boats (totally exhausted in my case). You can raft up if you want but I keep an inflatable tucked away onboard and can shuttle you back and forth if that suits you better.

These events are a great way to get to know other CHESSS sailors, hope you can make it!
